College of Business  January 5, 2016 – 09:14 am

NU Academic ComplexThe College of Business Administration at Niagara University has made a dramatic transformation in the 21st century. If you haven’t visited our campus or learned about all the recent exciting developments, here is a summary:

NU was rated by U.S. News & World Report as a best college in the North (Sept. 2011), ranked by The Princeton Review as a best college in the Northeast (Aug. 2011), and selected by as a top college (June 2011).

The College of Business Administration is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). Less than one-third of all business schools in the U.S. have achieved this standard, awarded only to schools with a commitment to high quality and continuous improvement. We received our initial accreditation in 2001 and received our most recent re-accreditation in 2011.

Faculty with Real Business Experience

Along with traditional faculty, the College of Business Administration has added new faculty members with diverse expertise and backgrounds. One important element of providing a quality, relevant education in the 21st century is embracing professors with business experience. We now count five full-time professors, hailing from companies like IBM and Rich Products, who have made recent transitions from full-time business management positions to important members of our faculty team. Additionally, we have added an expert-in-residence in healthcare management and an executive-in-residence in supply chain management. To learn more about these and other faculty, you can visit our faculty page.

AACSB AccreditationBisgrove Hall - State-of-the-Art Technology

In 2007, we moved into our completely renovated and expanded building, Bisgrove Hall. Featuring state-of-the-art technology available to students and Western New York’s best financial services lab, this building also houses student study areas and highly-accessible staff and faculty offices. Located in the center of campus, it is adjacent to the student center and dining halls. The building won Business First's 2008 Brick by Brick Award for “Best Education Project” in Western New York.

Exciting New Curriculum Programs

We continuously evaluate curriculum programs to assure their quality and relevance in today’s fast-paced business environment. Recent changes include the introduction or modification of programs in both our undergraduate and MBA programs, including an accounting 4+1 MBA option, expanded finance offerings and a “design your own” integrative management curriculum. A new emphasis on ecommerce/entrepreneurship and data and healthcare management offerings became a priority in 2010-2011. See all of our undergraduate curriculum and program offerings and/or details of our MBA program.

Active and Integrative Learning

The idea of "learning by doing" rather than just sitting and listening to lectures has been embraced by the College of Business Administration and all of Niagara University. Some examples include our Freshman Business Course (BUS 120), Student Clubs and Organizations, Study and Travel Abroad, Monteagle Fund Investment course, and Fed Challenge. Also, approximately 50 percent of our students participate in internships, and our Career Services Office offers many opportunities for interaction with potential employers
