Manchester Business School’s Singapore Centre has moved to new and larger, state-of-the-art premises in the Central Business District to accommodate rising student enrolment.

The new centre was opened today by Nigel Banister, Manchester Business School’s Chief Global Officer and Judith Slater, Deputy High Commissioner and Director of Trade and Investment at the British High Commission in Singapore.

Commenting on the opening, Nigel Banister said: “Our new Singapore Centre reflects a recent surge in demand for our global MBA programme in the region. Singapore as a major global business centre is an ideal location for our students to fully immerse themselves in the corporate culture of Southeast Asia, as well as gain exposure to one of the world’s most cosmopolitan and dynamic business environments. This investment and expansion in Singapore is further testament to the region’s leading role in the international education market and the growing demand for our MBA programme.”

Judith Slater added: “Education has been bringing Singapore and the United Kingdom closer together for decades, thanks to global institutions like Manchester Business School. Both locations are major centres of excellence in education and I am pleased to see that MBS’ presence in Singapore and the region is growing.”

Together with the School’s other global centres in Manchester, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Dubai, São Paulo and Miami, the Singapore Centre administers the School’s part-time global MBA programme for mid- to senior-level executives. The Singapore Centre currently serves 400 students from Singapore and the Asia Pacific and graduates join a Southeast Asia alumni body of more than 3, 000 MBS alumni and over 13, 000 from the University of Manchester.

Professor Fiona Devine, Head of Manchester Business School commented: “The University of Manchester and Manchester Business School have strong links to Singapore and I am confident that the new centre will further strengthen our partnerships here.
“Our global centres allow our students to experience a diverse range of business and commercial environments and our international outlook is reflected in the diversity of our student body. Over 87% of our Global MBA candidates are from outside the UK and this year we celebrated the graduation of over 230 Manchester MBA students in Singapore. Our new centre in Singapore’s central business district is certain to bring our students even closer to one of the world’s centres of international business.”
