The Executive MBA program was the first to be offered in Lebanon and the Middle East. It started in February 2000. Since then dozens of executives graduated from the program and hold top management positions at several institutions. The program offers courses and seminars in all areas of business at flexible times to suit students’ busy life style. All courses are offered during the weekend. The program is very rich in its diversity of the student body. Executive MBA students join the program with different backgrounds. They hold degrees in engineering, pharmacy, law, business, and other areas. This diversity will h cultivate students exposure and allow them to share their experience with their colleagues. Program objectives and philosophy Executive training at the Lebanese American University is built on the philosophy that learning is a continuous process throughout individuals’ careers. The purpose of the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) is to allow experienced professionals in Lebanon and the Middle East to combine a full-time career with an executive educational program, culminating in an academic degree. A wide range of course offerings allows students to develop expertise in several areas of business, namely accounting, banking and finance, economics and statistics, management, and marketing. Such diversity aims at providing students from various business and academic backgrounds with the ability to comprehend the latest techniques and applications in all aspects of business and corporate settings, by applying various course materials to on-the-job managerial situations. EMBA: MAJOR LEARNING GOALS The E.M.B.A. program will enable the graduates to: • Apply effectively accounting, financial, economic, management and marketing principles and theories in business organizations, to solve business problems. • Work effectively in groups and teams, seeking to achieve common goals and objectives, and become effective leaders and managers in their institutions. • Show effective listening skills, in addition to oral and written communication skills. • Apply new technology to obtain and retrieve data to analyze information and to present results in an efficient way. • Understand and recognize the integrity and ethical responsibility of business executives in any business and social environment. ADMISSION TO THE EMBA PROGRAM Applicants to the EMBA program are expected to have professional preparation and accomplishments with sound academic background. Applicants who hold executive positions will have priority in admission. Prospective applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree in business studies or equivalent from a recognized university. Admission is granted on a selective and competitive basis to those who have demonstrated aptitude for distinct leadership and career enhancement, and possess managerial skills, increased workplace responsibilities, high ethical standards, perseverance, intellectual curiosity and academic ability and motivation by meeting at least the minimum requirements described below. With regard to the admission criterion for EMBA, the applicant is expected to have: 1. A BS degree from a recognized university. 2. The applicant should have a minimum of six years of working experience with a Middle Management or higher supervisory position. 3. Proficiency in English. Applicants from a non-English Universities have to demonstrate proficiency in English through: o A University EEE administered exam (minimum score of 550) o A paper based TOEFL(minimum score of 575) o An international based TOEFL (minimum score of 90) o A computer based TOEFL (minimum score of 233) 4. All applicants will be interviewed for assessment by the admissions committee. Meeting these requirements, however, does not guarantee admission to the Program.
